Elaine joined BSDD in 1979, became a member in 1986 and became Of Counsel to the firm in 2000. She has been involved with commercial litigation at the trial and appellate levels. More recently, Elaine has focused her practice on real estate transactions, professional responsibility matters and employment counseling. Elaine has represented employers in litigation and agency proceedings and provided employment law counseling, including the drafting of personnel manuals and giving hands-on advice on sensitive issues of discipline, discharge and promotions including intense investigations on sensitive sexual harassment complaints of upper level management. Her real estate practice emphasizes commercial mortgage lending. Elaine has also served as an expert in professional responsibility matters.
Representative Cases/Transactions Has worked on several transactions involving urban residential development in Detroit which had not seen a recorded subdivision plat for in excess of 30 years previously. Conducted an intense investigation of allegations of sexual harassment against an individual in upper management with a successful resolution within 10 days of the complaint. Successfully defended virtually every agency discrimination complaint on behalf of numerous clients.
