Jeffrey Stefan II Detroit, Michigan
Before joining BSDD in 2005, Jeffrey worked for a large regional law firm and also clerked for United States District Judge, Paul D. Borman. His practice covers all aspects of real estate law with an emphasis on both transactional and litigation matters. As part of this practice, Jeffrey regularly represents BSDD clients in connection with commercial real property tax assessment appeals involving among other things, retail shopping centers, industrial properties, hospital and medical facilities and other commercial projects. Jeffrey also has litigated a variety of business matters in state and federal court. In addition, Jeffrey is involved with various non-profit organizations in connection with matters such as obtaining 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, corporate formation, state tax issues and real estate counseling. Jeffrey recently authored an article for Community Legal Resources titled Maximizing the Benefit of Your Non-Profit Status. Representative Experience: Drafted and argued successful summary disposition motion in contract dispute that awarded BSDD client a seven figure recovery. Tried a dispute regarding the valuation of a shopping center before the Michigan Tax Tribunal upon which the Tribunal accepted BSDD's client's asserted values in their entirety resulting in a taxable value reduction of over one million dollars. Successfully obtained real estate tax exempt status for various properties on behalf of a major health care provider. Significant experience in commercial real estate lending that includes loan workouts and restructuring as well documenting and closing loans. Asserted successful quiet title claim on behalf of BSDD client in which the court also awarded BSDD's client its attorney fees. Handled numerous matters relating to real estate sales and leasing that includes documentation and closing. Education: J.D.
