Morley is a widely-respected advocate and counselor.  He has extensive experience in a variety of business disputes in courts and tribunals across Michigan.   

Best Lawyers In America® has named Morley as Appellate "Lawyer of the Year" in Detroit for 2016.  Morley's litigation practice has encompassed trials, arbitrations, and appeals in contract, real estate, probate, securities, automotive, bankruptcy, municipal, insurance, legal malpractice, intellectual property, and employment cases.  He has also  counseled businesses and government on a variety of issues. 

Morley is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers.  He has published numerous articles and essays on legal topics. 

Morley received a BA degree (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and JD degree (Magna Cum Laude, Order of the Coif) from the University of Michigan.  He also earned a master's degree in political philosophy from York University.  After law school, he clerked with Judge Philip Pratt in the U.S. District Court for Eastern District of Michigan.   He is past president of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association and the Jewish Foundation of Washtenaw County.  He serves on the firm's Executive Committee.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Obtained a million dollar federal court judgment on an insurance claim, where the insurance company had offered just $6,000
  • Won cases involving commercial fees charged by Detroit Metropolitan Airport
  • Prevailed in class action lawsuits concerning automobile insurance
  • Acted as court appointed mediator in several complex multi-party lawsuits and achieved speedy resolutions
  • Successfully represented clients in cases involving trade secrets, non compete agreements, and copyright infringement
  • Handled several pro bono cases, most recently winning a $500,000 case for a Detroit church against the U.S. Department of Education
  • Called in after trial to salvage a variety of lawsuits that had resulted in disastrous verdicts, and successfully overturned the verdicts on appeal
  • Prevailed in numerous suits defending the City of Detroit against claims by unsuccessful bidders on public contracts
  • Successfully litigated automobile supplier disputes
  • Won several employment lawsuits
  • Represented trustees in billion dollar trust dispute and won multiple appeals
  • Court-appointed mediator in complex multi-party disputes
